How we work & FAQs

The answers, before you have to ask.

A fitted bedroom is a considered decision, and most people have the same questions before they commit. Here's how an Olton Bedrooms project runs from first consultation to finished room — and honest answers to what clients ask most.

Step by step

From first consultation to finished room.

01

Free design consultation

Start with a free, no-obligation consultation — pop into the Shirley showroom to see the door ranges and finishes in the flesh, or have us come to you and measure the room. We want to understand how you use the space, what's frustrating about the storage now, and the look you have in mind.

02

Handcrafted to order in Solihull

Once the design is agreed, your furniture is handcrafted to your exact measurements in our own Solihull workshop, using door styles and colours from our in-house Vinyl and New Era ranges. Because we make it ourselves, awkward corners, sloped ceilings and tricky alcoves become an opportunity rather than a problem.

03

Fitted — most often in a single day

Our own fitters install everything, and most rooms are completed in a single day — clean, tidy and respectful of your home from start to finish. From first consultation to a finished room typically takes six to twelve weeks, and we're here afterwards if you ever need us.

Common questions

Frequently asked.

Do you design, make and fit, or just supply the furniture?

+

All of it, under one roof. We give you a free design consultation, then every piece is handcrafted to order in our own Solihull workshop, and our own team fits it. You deal with one local firm — established in Solihull since 1994 — from the first measurement to the finished room, rather than being passed between a designer, a factory and a separate fitter.

Is the furniture really handmade, or is it flat-pack?

+

It's genuinely handcrafted to order. Every wardrobe, home office and storage solution is made to your exact measurements in our own workshop in Solihull — not pulled off a shelf or shipped in flat-pack. We even manufacture our own door ranges in-house (the Vinyl Range and New Era Doors, in over fifty colours), which is why we can build around awkward corners, sloped ceilings and alcoves so precisely.

How long does it take from consultation to a fitted room?

+

As a guide, most projects run about six to twelve weeks from the first consultation through to installation — the design stage, then making everything to measure in the workshop, then the fit. The installation itself is quick: most rooms are completed in a single day, with larger or multi-room projects taking a little longer. We'll give you clear timings for your specific job.

Can I see the door ranges and finishes before I commit?

+

Yes — we have a showroom on Drayton Road in Shirley, Solihull, open Monday to Friday 8am–5pm and Saturday 9:30am–2:30pm. It's the best place to see the door styles, sliding systems, colours and finishes in the flesh. Prefer to start at home? A free design consultation and measure can be arranged as a home visit instead — whichever suits you.

Which door styles and colours can I choose from?

+

We manufacture our own Vinyl Range and New Era Doors in-house, in over fifty colours between them, across a wide choice of door styles — from traditional Shaker, Classic, Galway and Buckminster to contemporary Milan, Monaco, Quattro, Paris, Metropole and more. Because we make the doors ourselves, we can match the finish consistently across wardrobes, drawers and any standalone pieces.

Do you handle awkward spaces like lofts, under-stairs and alcoves?

+

Those are some of our favourite jobs. Because everything is made to order in our workshop, we can build furniture that follows the slope of a loft ceiling, fills the dead space under a staircase, or fits neatly into the alcoves either side of a chimney breast. Rather than forcing a standard unit to fit, we make the piece to suit the space — so it looks and works as though it was always meant to be there.

Which areas do you cover?

+

We're based in Shirley, Solihull, and design, make and fit bedrooms across Solihull, Birmingham and the wider West Midlands — including Knowle, Dorridge, Olton, Hall Green, Sutton Coldfield and the surrounding areas, with recent projects in Knowle and Solihull. If you're just outside that, ask anyway and we'll let you know if it's a fit.

What happens after the furniture is fitted?

+

Our fitters leave your room clean and tidy — clients mention that again and again — and we're still here afterwards if you ever need us. As a long-established local firm that's been making fitted bedrooms in Solihull since 1994, we rely on repeat custom and recommendations, so looking after you after the job matters as much as the fit itself.

Question not answered here?

Just ask — there's no such thing as a daft question about a fitted bedroom, and we'd rather talk it through properly before anyone commits to anything.
